New ferry design contract

Boreal Transport Nord AS has ordered a new car ferry of Multi Maritime design. The ferry will be built at Fiskerstrand Verft, and will have capacity for 50 cars and 199 passengers. It will have a low environmental footprint, prepared for operating on biodiesel. The ferry’s flexible arrangement is also prepared for a future refit to hybrid, plug-in hybrid or all electric operation.

“Multi Maritime is pleased once again to have been chosen to design a new ferry for Boreal Transport Nord AS. This will be the seventh ferry we have designed for Boreal Transport since 2012″, says Multi Maritime’s CEO Gjermund Johannessen. Multi Maritime will deliver an extensive design and engineering package, including class and production drawings / documentation. The ferry is schedueled for delivery in May 2017, only 12 months after signing the building contract.
