Torghatten Nord has chosen Multi Maritime design for its new ferries for the Halhjem – Sandvikvåg route, which is among Norway’s busiest.

Torghatten Nord has been awarded an eight year contract (plus options) for operating the route. Typical service speed for the route will be 17-18 knots.

Two of the ferries will be built by Vard Brekvik in Norway and are schedueled for delivery in Q3 and Q4 2018.

The ferries will be equipped with a gas electric hybrid propulsion system. The battery system will be arranged with capability for fast charging from shore. Major effort has been put in to design energy efficient hull lines and systems onboard, as well as good sea keeping and manoeuvering capabilities.
